I’ve always had a love for teaching and working with families. I taught at a preschool while simultaneously earning my B.A. in Liberal Studies prep for teaching with a double minor in mathematics and science at San Jose State University. I graduated in 2007 and went on to the San Jose State graduate school Credential Program. I taught 7th grade math and science and coached track and cross country before making the transition to becoming a stay-at-home mom.
My connection to children and families needing support with social, emotional, behavioral and sensory needs lies close to my heart and was cultivated in my own home with my children. I have three boys, two of whom have diagnoses requiring additional support- I live by what I teach every day. I am particularly well versed in the challenges that come with ADHD as well as Sensory Processing Disorder, though I also enjoy working with children who are on the autism spectrum.
When I partner with your family I bring with me the perspectives of educator, developmental specialist and parent. As a former teacher, I understand the expectations and demands placed on students in the classroom. As a Developmental Specialist, I know the tools that will help your child meet those expectations, and more importantly to help them develop as individuals. As a parent, I empathize with your struggle and assure you that it does get better with the right strategies and support in place. Whether you come to ConnectEd as a first step, last step, or somewhere in between, I’m honored to have the opportunity to know your family and be part of your journey.
