My journey in education began in the lobby of our apartment in Indonesia when I was just three years old, watching my mother tutor neighborhood kids in English. Those early moments ignited a lifelong love for learning. After moving to the United States, I became fascinated with diverse teaching styles, deeply inspired by my 6th-grade teacher, who became like a second parent to me. In college, my passion for learning grew stronger when a professor mentored me in research, ultimately leading me to win first place for my research poster and silver for my paper.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology, with a focus on developmental psychology, and minored in education at UC Berkeley. Teaching after undergrad was incredibly fulfilling, but I felt limited by systemic inequities. This led me to pursue a Master’s in Education at Harvard, where I worked with Project Zero to study cultures of thinking in the classroom.
Returning to teaching, I collaborated with ConnectEd classrooms, witnessing the positive impact on my students and on my own growth as an educator. Today, I am thrilled to contribute more directly to ConnectEd and help shape curriculum that fosters empathy, growth, and equity.
